Welcome to Galerie LakayeSet in a lush, intimate, Caribbean-style home setting, Galerie Lakaye has exhibited the works of fine, contemporary Haitian artists, as well as a wide variety of distinguished African, Latin American, North American, and European artists and designers, many for the first time in the United States. Operating out of a private Craftsman house in Hollywood since 1990, the gallery's unique blend of museum-stature artwork, casual atmosphere, unconstrained attitude, and a clientele that defies ethnic boundaries has led to unfettered support and alliances from unlikely places — the gallery has hosted exhibits in conjunction with UCLA Fowler Museum of Cultural History, Craft and Folk Art Museum, and numerous venues for the Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department. Galerie Lakaye PhotographyWith an eye to the future, co-owner Carine Fabius has recently launched Galerie Lakaye Photography as a way to introduce the medium to a client base that usually steers toward painting and sculpture. Photographers now associated with the gallery include mixed-media photographer/sculptor Pascal Giacomini; fine art photographer Ted VanCleave; distinguished photojournalist Bruce Talamon; and Jeff Dunas. |
