Zanj (Ange, Angel)
A spirit or spirits that possess people, in ceremonies that take place mostly in Haiti's northern towns. Most Haitians refer to themselves as Catholic and Vodouisant, and imagery of saints and angels abounds in works of art, in public spaces, on tap taps (gaily painted trucks used as public transportation), and on commercial and residential structures.
